About Me

I’m a 3rd generation Californian and grew up in the college town and LA suburb of Claremont. My great grandfather was a California State Senator, founding donor of Pomona College (in Claremont) and helped settle the area including starting the first Orange Growers Coop. I moved to Laguna Beach in 1991, for a couple of wonderful years, then on to San Diego in 1993, for 16 years, and Berkeley, in 2009, where I lived for nearly 8. But San Diego has been “home” for a long time, and I’m very happy to be back. (Although it was difficult to leave the Bay Area. It’s beautiful, I made some great friends, and the most common reaction my clients had to the news of my move was some version of, “Oh, noooooo!”)

I’ve always loved fixing and building things, problem solving and helping people. With this business I enjoy and appreciate the variety of projects, meeting new people and the fulfillment I get from working with my hands and being useful in a tangible way. It still blows me away that my clients are so grateful when they’re paying me to do things I generally enjoy doing.

I’m a skipper and SCUBA diver and love taking friends and family on sailing/diving adventures. So far just day trips in San Diego, several days around Santa Catalina Island and one to two weeks in the Caribbean, but hope to make it to the Mediterranean and South Pacific in the next few years.

As an LA area native, I love my car and road trips, and I really enjoy wine tasting, theater, the arts and symphony, etc., so my work “truck” is a 2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 4Matic Wagon. (I’m a handyman, not a caveman.)

I’ve also trained as both a fixed-wing and helicopter pilot. It’s a long, crazy story, if you’re interested!
